#PopRenaissance
With techniques rooted deep in Renaissance methods, and stylistic elements coming from current Pop Culture visuals, we introduce Richard Oliver's "Pop Renaissance" style.
Painters from the Renaissance used a variety of under-painting techniques and a multitude of glazes to create those luminous, perfect skin tones we have admired for over 500 years. A peek inside the Studio of Richard Oliver would reveal an artist deep into the application of just such procedures.

From his use of chiaroscuro (the technique of strong contrasts between light and dark), to his application of 15-20 layers of oil and glazes along with self created varnishes made with the historic blend of linseed oil and turpentine, Richard Oliver's Renaissance heritage is clearly expressed. Richard Oliver's distinct style emulates these masters of the Renaissance in technique, but uses imagery from today's Pop culture; big-eyed children, magical animals, the possible dangers and challenges of our current culture.....all wrapped into a creation meant to portray ascetic beauty and profound hope.
